Summary What does Article 4 of the ITS on FIU reporting to the EPPO say?

This article governs how FIUs must complete the reporting template introduced in Article 3.

It establishes a two-tier field structure within the template — some fields are mandatory, others discretionary — and sets out the expectation that structured information belongs inside the template itself rather than in separate submissions.

Importantly, it does leave room for FIUs to attach supporting documents or other evidence outside the machine-readable format as annexes.

Important points:

  • Complete all mandatory fields in the reporting template for which you hold the required information.
  • Keep structured data within the template itself — do not submit it through separate reports.
  • Supporting documents and other evidence may still be annexed in a non-machine-readable format.

Springlex's summary of the article is a reading aid, not a substitute for the legal text.

    1. The reporting template set out in the Annex contains mandatory and discretionary fields.

    1. FIUs shall complete all mandatory fields for which they hold the required information. Information that is requested through the structured fields of the machine-readable template shall generally be provided within the reporting template and shall not be submitted in separate reports. This does not preclude FIUs from annexing supporting documents and other relevant evidence or material in a non-machine-readable format.
