Summary What does Article 11 of the ITS on FIU-to-FIU exchanges say?
This article sets out the rules governing follow-up or supplementary exchanges of information between FIUs after an initial exchange has taken place.
Building on the broader framework established throughout this Regulation, it makes clear that any subsequent communication — whether seeking additional consent, requesting more information, or providing follow-up data — must take place exclusively through FIU.net.
The article also specifies how these supplementary exchanges must be handled technically within that platform, ensuring they are anchored to the original exchange rather than treated as standalone submissions.
Important points:
- FIUs are required to conduct all supplementary exchanges of information exclusively through FIU.net, with no alternative channels permitted.
- Supplementary exchanges cover follow-up consent requests, requests for additional information, and the provision of further information linked to a prior exchange.
- FIU.net must present these follow-up exchanges as extensions of the original template, meaning FIUs only need to submit new or updated information, without resubmitting unchanged data already provided.
Springlex's summary of the article is a reading aid, not a substitute for the legal text.
FIUs shall carry out all supplementary exchanges of information related to requests, responses and spontaneous exchanges submitted pursuant to this Regulation exclusively through FIU.net.
Supplementary exchanges referred to in paragraph 1 shall include, in particular:
requests for extended or broader consent following a previous exchange of information;
requests for additional information following a previous exchange of information;
the provision of follow-up information in relation to a previous exchange of information.
Such exchanges shall be integrated within FIU.net through dedicated functionalities designed as extensions of, and directly linked to, the initial exchange of information template to which they relate in a way that FIUs are required to introduce only the additional or updated information related to the specific follow-up exchange, without re-submitting data already provided and unchanged.
