Article 4 Data exchange formats and information accompanying submissions

Summary What does Article 4 of the ITS on non-EU currency reporting say?

This article sets out the technical formatting and data standards that must be followed when submitting information under this Regulation.

It builds on the reporting obligations established in Articles 1 and 3 by specifying how that data must actually be structured and presented.

For issuers, the format is dictated by competent authorities and must align with the data point model and validation formulae in Annex V.

For crypto-asset service providers, the format is determined by the issuers themselves when submitting the information required under Article 1(2).

Important points:

  • Issuers must submit data in formats specified by competent authorities, following the data point model and validation formulae in Annex V, with inapplicable fields excluded entirely.
  • Submit numerical monetary values with a minimum precision of ten thousands of units, and integer values with no decimals.
  • Crypto-asset service providers must submit their information to issuers in data exchange formats specified by the issuers, not by competent authorities.
